Our charity was started in 2012 in memory of Hussein Shamshudin who at 17 years old was sadly taken away from his family and friends. A spirited and generous character who contributed to various charitable causes in his very short life. Our charity was started in 2012 in memory of Hussein Shamshudin who at 17 years old was sadly taken away from his family and friends. A spirited and generous character who contributed to various charitable causes in his very short life. At the time of his accident, his parents were given cash by well-wishers from which his family commissioned a water-well built in the Philippines and from that came the idea of starting a charity called 'Dasbait'; Hussein's Twitter name.

The charity's aim is to reduce poverty through education. Some area of India has a significantly low literacy rate i.e. 25% of the population live below the poverty line and therefore sourcing the next meal prioritises obtaining an education.

We are a small charity, so to maximise our reach, we collaborate with local charities - this way we work with individuals who have the local knowledge and can ensure the necessary checks are in place to make sure that our money reaches the right place at all times.

Throughout the years we have built a committed community to come together and raise money towards our cause in an active and exciting way. Every year we hold a fundraising event including 5-a-side football alongside a day of food and fun.
